  • Nevis Largely Spared by Hurricane Irma All-Clear Signaled

Charlestown, Nevis – September 7, 2017 – In the passage of Hurricane Irma, the National Emergency Operations Center for Nevis advised the general public late yesterday that the ALL CLEAR was given to restore normalcy in the country after the Rapid Assessment Team carried out its work and deemed it safe to do so.

Additionally, the flash flood watch that had been issued was discontinued.

The Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts and the Vance W. Amory International Airport in Nevis are both open. Electricity has been restored across the island and the Nevis Tourism Authority is open for business.

Hotels across the island are reporting minimal structural damage with beach and debris clean-up underway. The Four Seasons Resort Nevis reports that the resort is in fine shape and all areas are generally dry. Hermitage Inn, too, is reporting just general debris and no structural damage.

The Great House and cottages at Nisbet Plantation Beach Club are in excellent condition however there was damage to the Sea Breeze Beach Bar, the decking and the beach.

The Honorable Mark Brantley, Deputy Premier and Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Foreign Affairs and has been working with St. Kitts and Nevis government agencies to assess the current situation and had this to say, “Hurricane Irma has spared St Kitts and Nevis even as it has devastated our neighbors. Let us now use our collective energy to pray for our brothers and sisters across the Caribbean who have suffered and continue to suffer. Let us pray ceaselessly for God’s continued mercy as we now face Hurricane Jose.”

We will continue to post updates as they become available.
